Cornish Mines 1: To make things easier I have split the individual mine pages into several header pages of which this is the first. The mines and sites are in alphabetical order and will hold several (if not more) images of the mine in question. So, at least this way the visitor can skim through and have a look at only the pages that are of interest.

For each mine that is in this category I have included one image on this page. Either click the image or follow the link below to go to the page. So all these pages have been or are being updated. Certainly I am getting to the point where I am finally almost finished.

Cornish Mines 1.1 – First of all, the Basset Mines this image is of South Wheal Frances Marriot’s Shaft Complex. These are certainly some of the most impressive remains in Cornwall.

Cornish Mines 1.2 – Basset and Grylls Mine, part of the Wendron Mining District. This is a lovely site to walk around with impressive remains.

Cornish Mines 1.3 – Some of the remains at Bickford’s Fuse Factory. In the background is the headframe of South Crofty Mine.

Cornish Mines 1.4 – The unmistakable Crowns Engine Houses belonging to Botallack Mine, certainly one of the most dramatic mines in Cornwall.

Cornish Mines 1.5 – This is the steel headframe above Allen’s Shaft Botallack Mine. This was sunk during early 1900’s for a reworking. However headgear was erected in the 1980’s by Geevor Mine in an attempt to gain access to the undersea sections of the mine.

Cornish Mines 1.6 – Carn Galver Mine. situated on the St Ives Pendeen coast road. Such a  lovely place to visit on a fine summers day. Some of the walks are breath taking and the views are spectacular.

Cornish Mines 1.7 – This site, Castle-an-Dinas Mine is one of my favorites to visit. For that reason alone the site is covered extensively on three gallery pages.

Cornish Mine Images 1.8 – This image is one of the settling tanks of Cligga Head Mine. Furthermore the surface remains here are extensive, while the sea views and scenery are breathtaking.

Cornish Mine Images 1.9 – Consols and United Mines. This image is of The Mount Wellington Tailing Dam in the Wheal Maid Valley. The remains in the foreground are of the Whim Engine House belonging to Davey’s Shaft of Consols.

Cornish Mine Images 1.10 – Cooks Kitchen Mine, this image is of the Pumping and Whim Houses on Chapple’s shaft. This was during 2016 after renovation. Also on the left can be seen the headframe of New Cooks Kitchen shaft at South Crofty Mine.
